Icons & Assets

Open Icon Libraries

Maintained by Multiple maintainers

Permissively licensed, actively maintained icon sets suitable for production use without per-seat licensing.

Why it matters

Icon licensing is a real legal risk in client work. These sets are MIT or Apache licensed, tree-shakeable, and available as code packages rather than pasted SVGs.

Key principles

  1. Pick one family and stay in it - mixing stroke weights and corner radii is the most common visual-system defect.
  2. Match icon stroke weight to your type weight; 1.5px stroke suits most 14–16px UI text.
  3. Never ship an icon-only control without an accessible name.
  4. Verify the licence before client delivery - Font Awesome and some Noun Project assets are not free for commercial use.
